Future of Heyfield

In July 2024, the Heyfield Community Resource Centre received funding under DEECA's Forestry Transition program for Community Development Fund Stream 1 to provide project management support for the innovation working groups identified in the first phase of the project led by the Wellington Shire Council and to upskill community members. This work is on-going until October 2027.

This funding stream sits alongside funding for Timber Innovation Grants, Forestry Transition Fund and the Business Support package.

The working groups that were identified in the first phase of the project were Agriculture, Active Ageing and Tourism. Our focus is to support the rollout of the opportunities identified by these groups.

Each group, which is made up of interested community members, businesses and related organisations, has identified projects to develop further. Some of these, like the Heyfield Adventure Hub, have been funded and others are still waiting on an outcome.

Please check back regularly for news and updates including the progress of the projects being developed and implemented from the working groups.

Community input is vital to the success of this project. If you are passionate about developing our great community, and would like to find out more about how you can contribute to our working groups, please contact the Resource Centre or complete one of our forms below.
